In this presentation, we dive deeply into the effects pornography has upon the developing brain and one’s view of self and others. Why? Because we no longer live in a world where we need to go find pornography. It now comes looking for us, and for kids, it lives in many places where we ask them to spend time doing other activities like school, friends, and movies. Did you know that researchers have observed a “three-fold” increase in self-generated online sexual imagery depicting 7 to 10-year-olds? The reason? More kids online mean more kids targeted by internet predators, pressuring them to send explicit photos. Herein we have the complicated intersection between technology, children, predators, sextortion, and trauma on a massive scale.
